Civil War Roundtable

Event Details

The Civil War Era redefined America in many ways. One was through its artistic interpretation of Civil War military conflict. No longer would art simply glamorize the hero on the field of battle. Instead, depictions of the lead-up to the war, the war itself, and its aftermath explored a more robust human narrative. Inspired by a 2013 exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Roundtable President Scott Schroeder will explore some of these narratives as depicted by several period artists in their select relevant works.
